This terracotta figurine of Saint Joseph, with garments shaped in papier-mâché, is a refined example of traditional devotional art—ideal for collectors and for anyone wishing to enrich their space with a sacred object of antique charm. The figure features a soft, harmonious polychromy that enhances the composed posture and the saint's serene expression.
The terracotta and papier-mâché show signs of wear and small abrasions, consistent with the piece's age and visible in the photos; the Saint is missing both the halo and the staff. The tears present on the papier-mâché have been stabilized with glue, a light conservation intervention that prevents further damage and preserves the original structure of the garments. These traces of time give the figurine an authentic patina. The base, also marked by use, further testifies to the history of the piece and emphasizes its artisanal character.
